Person of the Month - Jon Hance

Curiosity is a good thing. It triggers a desire to know and experience as much as possible. Such is the case with Parthenon's Senior QA, Jon Hance. For him, life should be about enjoying your time and "always paying attention and learning from everyone around you." That said, he's put his own advice into practice multiple times.

With 16 years of experience up his sleeve, Jon specializes in project management and quality assurance tasks. This translates into taking a project from the planning and design phase, through development, into testing and ultimately to completion. Sound complicated? It can be, but the challenge is part of the process. And Jon loves his job. There’s a wide variety of work to be done. Moreover, things never get dull as there are multiple projects each day and there's always something new and different. According to Jon, the trick is to work with and expose yourself to multiple environments and types of applications. The more you do, the more tools in your tool box. And as Jon has learned the hard way, a dash of patience is also important, even if it doesn't come easily.

Like most people, Jon began small. His first introduction to the tech/software file was through a nascent version of the World Wide Web. From there he taught himself HTML and started designing web pages for small businesses. Sometime thereafter, he found himself in a tech support role. That changed when he was put on a dedicated QA team. As for how he ended up at Parthenon, he became a customer in 2012, then jumped on board the Parthenon team in February of this year. That’s quite a journey, it’s smart bet that he was learning the entire way through.

As for what little free time he has, Jon spends it with his family where his son is "the center" of everything he does.
