What is OSCON?

OSCON (Open Source Conference) refers to a conference that began in 1999 and is still going strong. Topics covered literally cover the entirety of open source programming technologies from languages to best practices and services. It's also a place for people to meet and discuss current and growing trends in open source. You never know who you might meet and what kind of networking opportunities you might have.

What can you expect at OSCON?

A multitude of different sessions, tutorials and all kinds of events have been offered each year. You can see this year's schedule here. There are also talks given by experts in the field. There are a lot of different pieces that go into open source as a whole and you will come away with all kinds of new insight in how open source can be used. Be prepared to learn a lot!

Why should you go?

The better question is why not? New open source technologies, trends and practices have been unveiled at past OSCON conferences. Moreover, opportunities to expand your open source horizons will be readily at hand. In other words, ideas and struggles can easily turn into solutions.

OSCON runs July 20-24, 2014 at the Oregon Convention Center. You can reserve your place on OSCON's site.
